Whistle Blowing

Who is a Whistle blower?

A whistle blower is a person or a complainant who shares a knowledge of a wrongdoing, concern or any information of fraud, corruption or sexual harassment or any mis conduct within the company or in a specific department. The whistleblower may be an employee, client or customer, contractor, consultants, professional bodies who become aware of any illegal activity(s).

The objective of whistleblowing is envisaged to encourage staff, customers and stakeholders to bring unethical conducts and illegal violations to the attention of an internal and/ or external authority so that actions can be taken to resolve the problem. The whistle blower is a not an investigator nor does he determine the sanctions to be meted on offenders. The unethical practices may include any of the following:

  • Financial malpractice or impropriety or fraud
  • Failure to comply with good corporate governance
  • Failure to comply with a legal obligation or Statutes
  • Dangers to Health & Safety or the environment
  • Criminal activity
  • Improper conduct or unethical behavior
  • Corruption, bribery, and blackmail
  • Any other misdemeanor
